TARA HERCOK

Associate
Family Lawyer

Overview

Tara has worked exclusively in family law since 2013, initially in support and paralegal roles, prior to being admitted as a solicitor in 2018. Tara has practised as a solicitor with Barkus Doolan Winning since 2019. Having worked in family law for over 9 years, Tara has a wealth of knowledge of family law, the issues that arise, how those issues can or should be approached, and ultimately resolved.

Tara is an advocate for resolving disputes outside of Court via alternate dispute resolution methods such as Mediation and negotiation. Tara has represented clients at Mediation and Conciliation Conferences on multiple occasions. However, if a dispute is unable to be resolved by consent, Tara is confident in appearing and advocating for clients before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Tara has experience in a range of matters, including:

  • Financial matters, including matters involving high net worth property pools and complex Trust and corporate structures
  • Parenting disputes, including relocation cases
  • Issues arising from de facto separation
  • Child support matters, including child support departure applications
  • Spouse maintenance
  • Divorce applications

Tara strives to assist clients by providing guidance and advice in a clear and efficient manner. Tara brings a level of empathy to her day to day practice, and understands that most clients she represents are going through a separation for the first time. Whilst empathetic, Tara aims to provide realistic advice to clients throughout the separation process.

Having completed a secondary degree in psychology, Tara understands the emotional impact separation may have upon those involved. Tara is passionate about family law and providing the best outcome for her clients.
